At Rich Improvements, we keep the process clear from the first conversation through the final inspection, so you understand what comes next and who is responsible for moving your project forward.
From First Conversation to Finished Space
Step: 01 Schedule a Free In-Home Consultation Contact our office to schedule a free in-home consultation.
Once you contact Rich Improvements, our office will schedule a free in-home consultation with Rich at a convenient time.
During the consultation, we also provide:
- Proof of applicable licensing and insurance, along with required Wisconsin consumer information
- Planning resources to help you begin exploring options and selections, where applicable
Step: 02 Review the Space & Discuss Possibilities We review your space, goals, priorities and practical considerations.
Rich meets with you in your home to see the existing space and understand what you want to accomplish.

- Talk through practical considerations
- Get straightforward guidance about what makes sense for your home
Step: 03 Get an Early Understanding of the Budget For most projects, Rich can provide a preliminary budget range during the initial consultation so you have useful information before deciding whether to move forward.
- The range is intended for early planning
- Final pricing is established after the scope, design, products and project details are finalized
- For larger projects such as second-story additions, Rich can discuss an early planning range, but preliminary architectural plans are needed before the scope and pricing can be defined more precisely
Step: 04 — Develop the Plan & Make Selections We work through layout, design, drawings and product selections as needed.
When you’re ready to move forward, we work through the details needed to turn the idea into a defined project.
Depending on the project, this may include:
- Measurements, layout and design
- Drawings or renderings when needed
- Coordinate with an architect when architectural services are needed
- Product selections, with samples brought to your home when available and applicable
- Coordinating showroom visits when additional product options need to be explored
Step: 05 — Review & Sign the Contract We review the scope, pricing, project details and anticipated construction dates before work begins.
Once the project details are established, Rich Improvements prepares the contract for your review.

- The contract is generally organized in the order the work will be performed, giving you a useful guide to follow throughout the project
Step: 06 — Permits, Materials & Scheduling After the contract is signed, we prepare the project for construction.
- Pull required permits for our work
- Order project materials
- Confirm the project start date once material delivery and project scheduling are established
Step: 07 Construction, Coordination & Inspections Rich is regularly on site and manages the day-to-day work, project details and coordination of specialized trades.
- Prepare and protect the work area before construction begins
- Our team completes the remodeling work in the necessary sequence
- Coordinate electricians, plumbers, HVAC professionals and other specialized trades as needed
- Coordinate required inspections throughout the project
- Keep you informed about progress and upcoming phases
- If an unexpected condition or requested change affects the scope of work, we discuss the options and any resulting changes with you before moving forward
Step: 08 Final Details & Completion We complete final cleanup, review the finished project and address any remaining details.
As construction wraps up, we make sure the project is brought through the final stages properly.

- Rich reviews the completed project with you and addresses any remaining details
- Coordinate required final inspections
