The name Rich Improvements actually started before the company did.

Rich’s interest in building began early. In high school, he was showing up for early-morning woodshop classes and building furniture by hand. Not long after graduation, people began asking him to build things for them, and “Rich Improvements” became a playful nickname for the guy they called when they wanted something built or improved.

Years later, that nickname would become a business.

Rich went on to build his career in residential remodeling, gaining hands-on experience working for other contractors and learning the trade from the ground up.

Then came a decision that would change the course of his life.

When the company he was working for decided to eliminate its residential exterior division, Rich was offered a well-paying desk position. With a young family and small children at home, taking the secure job would have been the safe and practical choice.

But building had become more than a job to Rich. It was something he was genuinely passionate about — creating something with his own hands, solving problems, watching a project take shape and knowing that his work would become part of someone’s home.

So, with the support of his wife — and with young children at home — Rich took a leap of faith and officially formed Rich Improvements, LLC in March 1999.

It was a risk, but one that quickly showed promise. Nearly a full year of work was booked early on, giving the young company the start it needed.

Growing Without Losing What Matters

Over the years, Rich Improvements has continued to evolve.

What began with a strong focus on exterior remodeling gradually expanded into the kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions and other residential remodeling projects we specialize in today.

The projects have changed. The work has evolved. The values that shaped Rich Improvements from the beginning have stayed the same.

We believe homeowners deserve more than quality craftsmanship. They deserve to feel listened to, informed and cared for throughout the remodeling process.

That means taking the time to understand the home and what the homeowner wants to accomplish, offering practical guidance, communicating clearly, respecting the home we are working in and following through on our commitments.

Part of good service is also helping homeowners understand their options and what to expect, so they can make informed decisions with confidence. To us, that level of service is simply part of doing the job well.

Over the years, Rich Improvements has become a trusted name among homeowners throughout Southeast Wisconsin. Many of our customers have referred us to friends, family and neighbors — and some have done so more than once.

Still a Family Business

Rich Improvements remains family-owned today.

Rich’s son, Ryan, showed a natural ability for remodeling and craftsmanship from a young age. Over the years, Rich has taught him the trade, shared his experience and passed along the standards behind the company’s work.

Today, Ryan is a highly skilled craftsman and an integral part of the Rich Improvements team, bringing his own talent and attention to detail to the work.

For Rich, being able to share the work he has spent his life learning with his son is one more chapter in a business that has always been deeply personal.

You Work Directly With Rich

Even after all these years, Rich remains actively involved in the projects Rich Improvements takes on.

From the first conversation and planning stages through construction and completion, homeowners benefit from his decades of hands-on remodeling experience. He helps evaluate the project, talks through options and potential concerns, and stays involved as the work progresses.

Rich remains hands-on alongside Ryan and other experienced team members who share the standards Rich Improvements has built its reputation on. Together, the team coordinates the details, communicates with homeowners and takes pride in every project completed under the Rich Improvements name.

The goal is always the same: to create a finished space that works for the homeowner, fits the home and feels worth the investment.

For Rich, one of the most rewarding parts of the business is still much the same as it was when he started — taking an idea, helping shape it into a plan and watching it become something a homeowner can see, use and enjoy every day.

The passion for building that started all those years ago is still there.
